David Barrie - Director of Reinsurance Division

David started in the insurance industry in 1974 at John Townsend and Company Ltd, placing marine, direct and reinsurance business and became a Director in 1980. In 1985 he was recruited by the Tung Group in Hong Kong to be Managing Director of Furness Houlder Reinsurance Services Ltd and a Director of Furness Houlder Insurance Ltd. Due to the sale of the financial services of the Group to China Merchants Group, David purchased the shareholding in a Furness subsidiary, Wackerbarth Hardman Insurance Brokers and as Managing Director developed the company in marine and non-marine insurance and reinsurance business until the company was sold to the Minet Group in 1994. From 1996 until 1999 he was a Director of R K Carvill and Co. Ltd developing a marine reinsurance account, taking this account to Benfield Greig Ltd in 2000, until October 2003 when he joined R K Harrison. He was appointed to the Board of R K Harrison Insurance Brokers Ltd in March 2004.
