The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the largest representative body for community care in England, has appointed Howden Insurance Brokers as preferred supplier of insurance services to its care provider membership.

Lance Rigby, Executive Director at Howden commented: “We are delighted to have been selected by ECCA to work with them to support the care homes sector. ECCA’s objective is to create an environment in which providers can continue to deliver and develop the high quality care that communities require. We will work in partnership with ECCA in pursuit of this objective by helping educate members on risk and insurance and by working with insurers to help them better understand the unique risks presented by the sector.”

Joy Howson, Howden’s senior practitioner for the sector who has over 20 years’ experience providing insurance to care homes, will lead the relationship with ECCA’s members. Ms Howson said: “The changing regulatory landscape of the care provider sector means that care home owners have a huge amount to keep up with alongside the day-to-day management of their businesses. By taking a long-term approach to the sector we will work with ECCA, its members and insurers to help develop a continuously evolving culture of risk management and to develop responsive products at competitive prices.”

ECCA Chief Executive, Martin Green, comments: “The Howden team knows the care home sector inside out and has many years’ experience providing insurance products to meet its specialist needs. We are pleased to be working in partnership to deliver value to our members.”
