Howden Broking Group, part of the Hyperion Insurance Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Friedl to their North American Property and Casualty division as Head of Business Development. Friedl will report to John Plummer, who leads Howden’s North American division, and will be based in New Jersey.

Friedl has a diverse background in risk engineering, underwriting, account management and broking services. His focus will be to work with Howden’s retail and wholesale producers to assist in programme design, structure and strategy, providing the best access to the London, Bermudan and European marketplace, and helping to build creative insurance solutions for clients, in conjunction with their markets. This will encompass property, casualty, executive risk and alternative risk transfer programmes.

Tim Coles, Chief Executive Officer of Howden Broking Group commented: “Being on the ground locally, the initiative further enhances our ability to provide practical insurance solutions to our clients and partners.”

As part of Howden’s ongoing investment in client service, Friedl will work closely with Philipp Kunath, Howden’s Chicago-based representative, and with retail and wholesale partners in North America on their time zone, providing a bridge between the US marketplace and the international resources of Howden’s global wholesale hubs.

Friedl brings over 30 years’ experience to Howden, with multiple roles in the industry, the most recent as Managing Director and National Practice Leader for Property and Enterprise Risk at Wells Fargo Insurance Services. Friedl has also held positions with Zurich Financial Services and Industrial Risk Insurers.
